Hi everyone,

Just a little update as to what's happening on the other side of the screen here. Yesterday my family and I had to put our hamsters to sleep; my brother's hamster 'Tommy' (after Dr. Tommy of power rangers) and my hamster 'Casey' (after Casey Jones of Tmnt). Tommy we knew we would have to make the decision sooner or later because he was really old and had almost gone bald; he was also scratching a lot and causing sores on his body (not the prettiest sight let me tell you), but Casey we weren't expecting to have to put to sleep until last Saturday when I cleaned his cage and found the he had two large bumps on his body (one on his head and one under his stomach). I decided yesterday to take him to the vet with Tommy because I didn't want to see my hamster suffer (the bumps were impairing his ability to stay balanced, but we were half hoping that the vet would say that it wasn't anything awful and give us something to treat it with). Upon showing the vet what was wrong he said that they were growths (cancerous at that!) and that it was kinder to put him down as well. Now, I can't stand needles so I turned away when he injected them; I'm guessing what made it more traumatic for me was that Casey squeaked several times when he was injected, but he was gone before the doc could put him back in the tank we had brought him in. Tommy took a little longer to go, but they were both gone before I turned back 'round. *Sighs* Life's a little empty at home right now 'cause this is the first time in a long while that we haven't had rodents in the house (it's always been hamsters or rats).

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my little vent journal.
